The Annual General Meeting of the Westport Civic Trust will be held on Thursday September 17.

Westport Civic Trust has launched the book Walking the Line—the history, flora, and fauna of the Old Railway Line Walk, which is available to purchase in bookshops in Westport.

The next Westport Civic Trust talk will be on Tuesday November 17 at the Atlantic Coast Hotel at 8pm.

The contentious issue surrounding the zoning of the privately owned Bank of Ireland garden in Westport was discussed at a special meeting of Westport Town Council last week where councillors were finalising the draft development plan, with a proposal put through which would see the garden zoned for open space and also for commercial development.

The trust members would like to wish everyone a very happy New Year, and look forward to seeing you at the next talk which will take place on Tuesday January 19. It will be given by Cian de Buitlear, the noted film-maker, on traditional boats and boat-building. As usual, the talk will be at The Atlantic Coast Hotel and will begin at 8pm. All are welcome.
